Dates for the 27th Annual Kamloops Film Festival Announced

January 24, 2023

The Kamloops Film Society is proud to announce the dates for the 27th annual KAMLOOPS FILM FESTIVAL

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas? Close, but no. It’s the countdown to the Kamloops Film Festival: we’re back to celebrate 27 years of community coming together to share laughter, tears, and popcorn!

Please join us for the 2023 Kamloops Film Festival from March 2 – 11 at the Paramount Theatre (and bring a dozen of your closest friends) for films that will appeal to every movie-going enthusiast in your family. Of course, half the fun of Festing is frequenting the fabulous events with friends, and all your favourites are back, from the Opening Red Carpet to the Closing Shindig, and much much more in-between.

Calling all filmmakers! You can expect to see the return of the Kamloops Independent Short Shorts (KISS) Film Fest on Sunday, March 5 at 1pm. The KISS Film Fest is a (FREE!) opportunity for local filmmakers to see their short films on the big screen at the Paramount and for the audience to celebrate the hard work and passion of our regional talent. Cash prizes are awarded by the KISS committee, the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission, and the Kamloops Art Council. Be sure to submit your film by February 20, 2023.

Not-to-miss event highlights will include the Red Carpet at the opening film; beer, whiskey, and wine tastings throughout the festival; the Family Film and party; DARKFEST with Drunk in a Graveyard for those who love a little something off the beaten path; steeping, brewing, wine-ing, & wiskey-ing discussions; and a celebration of International Women’s Day. You’ll also notice a theme of “giving back”throughout the festival, whether it’s our Films for a Cause, Featured Non-Profits, or the Sustainability Films and Panel.

We’ve certainly learned a lot over the last few years: we understand the important balance between in-person connection and safety, and how to adapt gracefully to everyone’s comfort levels. We can’t wait to see you, Kamloops! For more information on tickets, discounts, films, and events, please keep an eye on https://www.thekfs.ca/kff/.
