Wild Rose

Wild Rose

Friday, August 9 & Saturday, August 10 @ 7:15 pm

Irish singer and actress Jessie Buckley plays Rose-Lynn, a bolshie 20-something with a minor criminal record and two small kids. Rose-Lynn's Oz is Nashville and her itchy feet - no matter the ankle tag under her white cowboy boots - will get her there at any cost. So begins an arduous but always optimistic cycle, as the young woman runs away from the responsibilities of family and adulthood in order to chase who she thinks she has to be.

"WILD ROSE HAS A GREAT BIG HEART AND AN UNASHAMED OPTIMISM ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS. DIRECTOR TOM HARPER PAINTS A PICTURE BURSTING WITH COLOUR, AS BUTTER-WARM FLARES AND MUSICAL REVERIES CREATE A SENSE OF SOUTHERN COMFORT ON THE MOST DRIZZLY OF BRITISH DAYS."

- Elia Kemp, Film Forever

"SHOWCASING HER AMAZING VOICE, BUCKLEY ESTABLISHES HERSELF AS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, CONVEYING A BOLDNESS AND SENTIMENTALITY THAT MAKES HER AN ENDEARING PROTAGONIST. BEHIND THE CAMERA, HARPER'S SKILLED DIRECTION HARMONIZES WITH AN EMOTIONALLY CHARGED SCRIPT, WHICH EFFECTIVELY AVOIDS CLICHÉS WHILE ENSURING AUTHENTICITY TO ITS CHARACTERS."

- Kate Smith-Wong, Flickfeast

BUCKLEY'S STANDOUT PERFORMANCE -- INCLUDING IMPRESSIVE VOCALS -- MAKES THIS BRITISH DRAMEDY WORTH SEEING.

- Sandie Angulo Chen, Common Sense Media
