Dušan graduated from Westsyde Secondary School, attended Thompson Rivers University (BA-Theatre & BBA-Marketing) and Plymouth State University (MBA – Strategic Marketing Management), and now works as the Executive Director for the Kamloops Film Society, running the Paramount Theatre, the KFF and the Thursday Film Series. He originally became involved with the film festival when committee members were recruiting for people with marketing expertise. After working his way up to Chair, and serving in that capacity for four years, he then stepped into his current role. Dušan has been the Artistic Producer of Project X Theatre and a Development Director at Thompson Rivers University. (Insert shoutout to his cutie, Skylar, here).
Emily grew up in Kamloops and has always loved the art of film. She’s currently the Patron Engagement Manager at the Kamloops Film Society, doing everything from running the Front of House, managing the social media accounts, to making the patrons delicious popcorn. Emily is thrilled to run the festival out of the theatre again. She loves Kamloops, the Paramount Theatre, and her two boys, Liam (her partner) and Wink (their cat).
This is Anyssa’s 5th year with the KFF and her first year as the Film Fest Coordinator! She is a graduate of TRU with her BFA. She loves the hearty arts community we have in Kamloops and is grateful to be a part of it. She loves making, creating, her family and her Dion. Her favourite movie is Beetlejuice but is willing to give other movies a chance.
Aly is a TRU Journalism graduate and works in Communications at BCLC. She is super passionate about the Kamloops community and being involved in everything it has to offer. This is Aly’s third year volunteering with KFF and is looking forward to an awesome movie lineup. She believes that wine pairs well with everything, especially a good flick and popcorn. Her favourite movie is the Wizard of Oz.
Andrea graduated from Brocklehurst Secondary School and immediately found her passion and rewarding career in the Kamloops Registry. This is her first year with KFF and is looking forward to being a part of such a creative team that gives back to the Kamloops community! Andrea is involved in organizing the flavours and flicks, wine tasting, and volunteers for KFF this year. Food, wine, a cozy local theatre, and good people … what more could one want?
This is Diana’s fourth year volunteering with the Kamloops Film Festival. Diana is the Director of Development for Annual Giving at Thompson Rivers University, where she has worked for the past 13 years. Diana moved to Kamloops from Vancouver 22 years ago and loves our growing and evolving community. She is excited for a weeklong diet of theatre popcorn. See you at the movies!
Dianne is a high school teacher finally putting her love of film, and her MA in film studies, to good use. She has been a fan and volunteer of the festival for years, often bringing out students to volunteer as well, and getting them hooked on film in Kamloops. She is excited to be working on the committee and connecting with the community in her roles this year.
Dion has been on the committee for 5 years now, he likes it; it keeps him on his toes, keeps him sane. He is an aspiring creative with big ideas and an even bigger heart. If you see him at the festival be sure to say hello.
This is Esther’s third year volunteering on the KFF Sponsorship Committee and she’s excited for the 2021 Festival, and just for the opportunity to watch movies on a big screen again (even if it is from the front seat of the car!). When she’s not beating the local bushes for sponsorship funds, you can find her at the local Fisheries Department office, prowling the aisles at Movie Mart or spending time re-discovering the Kamloops area after many years living away from her home town.
Frank is a photographer & graphic designer from Kamloops, BC. This is his first year involved with the Kamloops Film Festival (though he has volunteered his photography skills for the past two festivals). He has enjoyed coming to the Paramount Theatre for years & is looking forward to helping make this year’s festival one of the most successful yet!
This is Jenna’s third year with the Kamloops Film Festival! She has been a long-time festival attendee, and the enticement of supporting this fabulous event combined with the opportunity to obsessively edit press releases drew her in to the KFF squad.
When she’s not teaching or running the Writing Centre at Thompson Rivers University, you’ll find her on a mountain bike, conquering mountains with her hubby, devouring books and/or burgers, or watching movies in a delicious pile of kiddos, blankets, and cats on the couch.
Katrina’s passion for giving back to the community and viewing the fabulous films at the Festivals throughout the years is what encouraged her to volunteer for the Kamloops Film Festival. She is a mother of three young adults and a Grandma to three awesome grandbabies. She has been a licensed Realtor for the past 23 years, as well as the co-owner of River City Realty with her husband, Vince. In her spare time, she is an active participant in triathlons, and other running and biking events.
Kendra is a long time Kamloops Film Festival attendee and a first time volunteer. She is looking forward to planning a great festival, watching all the weirdest films, and eating an obscene amount of popcorn.
Kevin worked at the Cineplex Odeon for nearly 22 years. He has taken a variety of accounting courses at Cariboo College (now TRU). Kevin is currently single, and enjoys the company of his two brothers, a sister and several nephews, nieces (and great nephews and nieces!). He collects hockey cards and memorabilia from the Beatles and the Monkees. Kevin has been a member of the KFF Committee for 17 years. He joined for the love of people and movies; to be able to escape from the real world for a couple of hours, no matter the topic and to learn about different things, which is his favourite part of the cinematic experience.
This is Madyson’s sixth year helping out with the Film Festival. She got onboard to spend more time with her mom, Katrina and stayed because she loves planning events. She is a Bachelor of Tourism Management graduate from TRU with a concentration in Events & Convention Management as well as Resort Experience and a minor in Human Resources.
This year will be my 5th year volunteering for the Kamloops Film Festival. I was introduced to KFF by Cathy Holman who was looking for volunteers. I really enjoy volunteering and the added fact that I get to see the diverse genres of films that I would not otherwise know about is a great fit for me.
Sarah moved to Kamloops in 2014 and quickly learned that it’s not hard to get involved – in fact it’s hard NOT to get involved. She has happily rejoined the team at KFF after a year off and looks forward to seeing the many smiling faces of film-goers this year. When not at work up at TRU, Sarah loves trying out Kamloops’ growing food scene, snowshoeing/hiking, books (all the books!) and spends a good chunk of every winter on the couch watching movies.
This is Cooper’s third year with the Kamloops Film Festival. She is excited to watch some amazing films and experience that Film Festival magic.
